Jason

In the intro, its the longest wind chime part I've heard in a song.

um alright, that was quite good! it was so soft at the beginning i didn't even know that it was playing.
by the way, they had pretty good crescendos and decrescendos.

oh and the smart music page said that the "Server Session Expired"

As I listened to this song, I wondered why it was called October. I wonder what Eric Whitacre was inspired by. I also really liked all the crescendos and decrescendos in this song. It added intrest and made it sound very cool. I liked how the person playing the wind chimes had such good control over them as well. It didn't sound like a bunch of lound jingles. Also, I heard the suspended cymbal rolls in every crescendo and noticed how it lead the group. It was a very impressive song and was played very well.

The Youtube Video "October" by: Eric Whitacre is very smoothing. It is a good song to listen to, just like Piano Improvisation on Canon By: Robin Spielberg. You can just constantly listen to the music over and over again, and never get bored of the same song.

good comments guys! Keep them comming.

Just so you know this is not "classical" music. It is a wind band not an orchestra and would be considered modern music.

Thanks!!

I like the way that all the instruments stayed together. At the beginning the way the 2 types of clarinets(parts 1 and 2) how one was the main and the other was the backround and they flowed with each other throughout that first part. At 4:30 it does the same thing again with the clarinet parts standing out the most.
Why is it called "October"? IT it supposed to soud like the leaves coming off the trees or something?

grr... my message didn't publish.

When i heard the song, i thought, "classical" but then i knew it wasn't, because it had a slightly more modern feel. I feel that this could be labeled "inspired by classical".

All of the different instruments fit together in a way that made the music sound evenly distributed between each group. The dynamics created a good sound and you could tell the difference between loud and soft. It sounds really good and it truly fascinated me.

The dynamics of the song added a lot of emphasis. It helped the music tell a story. I thought that the wind chimes were very controlled. Along with the woodwinds in the song, the chimes were solid and kept the song in one movement. Even though I didn't hear a lot of percussion, the song was still very impressive and interesting.

This song left me very impressed and might i add, speechless. The dynamics blew me away. It had unbelievable decrescendos that contributed greatly to the song. I could feel it when it the music got very big. It was also very smooth and this is what made this piece so special to me. My favorite part in this song is about five minutes into the piece. The Arizona All State Band played this song very well, i only hope i could play that well someday.

The music was smooth and calm. At many parts of the song i had to turn my volume on my computer up all the way because it was so quiet.I liked how they all played in unison to eachother.

It seemed like the brass and percussion came in at the loudest points of the song. They often grow fom a small pitch to a large full pitch.

Ashley: I liked this piece of music because it's interesting and the flute makes the music sound soothing, and everyone play's together and you can hear every instrument cleary, no one is paying to loud or to soft.I also like the ending. I knew the song was going to end because everyone got softer.

The music sounds like one sound not just a bunch of different instruments who just happen to be playing the same thing. The band really sounds unified. They are making the sound move as one song.

I thought this song was really relaxing. The dynamics were amazing. The crecendos and decrecendos just left me speechless. These guys are just really good. & they had a great sound.

Nice rhythm to the song! =) I especially liked the cymbals with the big, dramatic crescendos. I usually don't listen to this kind of music, but I think this song may have made me change my mind. But no harpsichord???
